Snow

Its one thing when it snows once or twice a year and everything closes down so you don't have to go anywhere in the nastiness and can just enjoy it. That kind of winter is enjoyable- after all, anything to get you out of a day of class right?

Well... I'm beginning to wonder if it will EVER stop snowing this year. It's my fourth (and LAST thank goodness) winter here and it has NEVER been this bad before. Seriously... it snows all the dang time. The snow doesn't melt in between snow storms... and no one cancels anything!! I think I might go sabotage the snow plows or something so the town will shut down! I am sick of walking to school either walking through about a foot of snow, or on a thin sheet of ice trying to keep my balance. That groundhog better end winter early this year!!

I just thought I would share with y'all what we have out our front door today... a TON of snow!! The street is even covered- normally those are plowed, but not today! It has been snowing since we woke up this morning- crazy, crazy- we'll see if it lets up enough for us to do anything on our day off!

Yesterday I made Charles one of his favorite Sunday dinners- Ham and Potatoes, but to top it off, I made him one of his favorite desserts- this chocolate raspberry cake. Well- by the end of the night he had eaten 4 or 5 pieces of this cake and was feeling a little overloaded, so he decided to try to "work some off." To my amusement, push-ups turned into push-ups with a clap. Then I had the idea to tell him to try clapping behind his back in between each push-up- after several tries I convinced him to let me video it so HE could see. He asked "no one else is going to see this, right?" He knew it would make the blog... What tops this video off is his outfit. Take notice of the Hawaiian shirt. I actually had to tell him that he couldn't wear this in public when he showed up at my apartment one night when we were dating wearing it!! He still doesn't understand why this is a shirt you only wear in the comfort of your own home :) So here is the video- Enjoy!

15 Weeks

Well... after some prompting from Katherine today, I decided to get over being annoyed with my appearance and take a picture to start documenting the belly growth. I didn't really think I was showing too much because everyone keeps saying..."Oh I can hardly tell" blah blah blah... Then Charles took this picture and I was like- Holy crap, do I really look that big?? So maybe y'all are all laughing at me thinking... just wait- but it seriously weirded me out to see these pictures- especially the close-up. Is this normal for 15 weeks, or am I just paranoid that I am going to blow up before 9 months comes?? Yeah right... like any of you are going to tell me- yeah Heather... you are looking pretty huge... haha- oh well! On the bright side... I am feeling GREAT!! I think I am finally over being sick which is marvelous! Anyway- I'll probably try to keep y'all updated as I grow and we find out more. We'll be finding out the gender in about 6 weeks hopefully- WOOHOO!!

Las Vegas Bowl

And here is the last of the promised catch up blogs. Here is a little bit of our trip to Las Vegas documented.

The airforce base from Las Vegas (or somewhere close by) brought 300 soldiers who during the national anthem (sung by Ms. America) pulled out this flag over the entire field. It was pretty incredible. Then they had 2 F-15's fly over the field right after the anthem. It was SO cool. I tried to get a picture of the jets, but they were too fast!

Mighty coug's running out

We WAY underestimated the Las Vegas weather. This expression says it all. We were FROZEN!! And, by this point in the game, it was looking pretty bleak for the cougars.Who woulda thought they would block an easy field goal to win the game. The kicker had nailed 2 field goals from over 50 yards, and we got a piece of this one from about the 15 yard line. The place went CRAZY!
And this is after we decided that instead of rushing the field, we would rush to the car and get warm!

Baby its cold outside...

Well, here is my response to Lori's blog about their 70 degree weather. This is what we woke up to Wednesday morning. When we were eating breakfast Charles looked outside and said, I think it's snowing. We decided it was but didn't realize how much had gotten dumped on us that night. When we went to bed at 10:30, no snow... when we stepped outside to walk to school, we sunk in a good 6 inches. We had snow midway up our calves- it was crazy.
We had quite a bit piled up on our car so I took these pictures while Charles was clearing all the snow off. We went to the Doctor on Wednesday and got to hear the little baby's heartbeat. It was pretty neat. It is starting to feel a little bit more real than before. Charles looks at my stomach every day and says- MAN, its getting so big! Mr. tact... gotta love him. No one else can see yet though, so we'll see how much longer until I am showing to anyone else :)

HOME SWEET HOME

Well, today was an exciting one for us!! We got the house we were hoping for!! We close in about a month, so we are pretty excited about it! I took a few pictures of the outside of the house when we were in Washington so I thought I would put them up.
Now... I know it doesn't look like much from the outside, but we are SO excited for the plans we have for updating it before we get to Washington in April. I will tell some of our ideas of the pictures we have and what we are going to do. FIRST... we are having the siding repainted. I need to decide what color!!! The windows and trim are going to stay white. When I told Lori about it today, she teased me about who is going to make all these decisions... I am prone to be a little slow on the decision making- so what better way to brainstorm than to ask some of my blog readers?? So here is the poll... what color should we paint the siding?
There is a little bit more of a close up of the siding in the front of the house. The roof needs to be cleaned, but its tan. The brick right under the siding is what used to be a garage, but they closed it up to make an extra room. We are going to dig that back out and put the garage back in. I'm thinking white garage doors, I really like the white with the brick to brighten things up.

There is the other half of the front again. There is a little pathway that goes along the front of this half to what is now the drive way.

Here is one of the side views. This is another area of siding that would be painted, and we would get rid of all those wires hanging around. Not quite sure what that is about...

This is the side view of the front with some of the front yard. We are going to get everything with the house how we want it before we do much landscaping, but we are going to get rid of a couple of the trees that are right by the house and some big bushes at the front of the yard that you can't see here.
This is one of the back corners. The deck upstairs comes out from the kitchen/dining area. The doors downstairs go into a second living room and an office/extra bedroom. Our plan for the basement is to get it ready to rent out to young couples or something. There are 2 bedrooms, living room, and bathroom down there, and this would be a good little carport for the renters. That is just an idea we have for now.

Those are all the pictures I have for now. I'm sure as things progress Charles's Mom will be taking more pictures. She is project manager while we are here :) Anyway, we are really excited about it! There is a lot we want to do to the place inside, and out, but if all goes as planned, it will be ready for us to move in early in May or June!! What an exciting summer we have to look forward to!!

Now... put your votes in for siding colors- I NEED IDEAS!!

update...

Well, our Christmas vacation was fantastic and pretty productive overall. The weekend we got out of school, I surprised Charles with a trip to Las Vegas to the BYU bowl game. We had a lot of fun, and I took some pictures... mostly of him (I am feeling... not so thin, these days). I will load them up as soon as I get a few minutes to do it.
But after a weekend in Sin City, we took off for Washington on Christmas Eve. We had a great stay there, Charles got a lot of work done and I did some reading and stuff. The last week we were there, we were house hunting and found one we really like. We are still working out details, but are hopeful for it to work out. I will keep you all posted on that. I have a few pictures of the house I will upload too.
I went to the doctor this morning and we heard the baby's heart beat. It was pretty cool. Still seems a little unreal that there is a little person just blooming inside me! I'm 14 weeks along and we should find out the gender at about 12 weeks.... TORTURE!!
Anyway- just had to give a brief update. I'll do more when I have pictures and time!

finals

Ok... I have gone back and re-read my last post, and I am pretty sure it didn't make any sense. Hopefully the paper I was writing came through a little more clearly... Well, I am not crazy, and finals are upon us. I have knocked out 3 and have 4 more to go! I am hoping to get two more taken today. It is starting to feel good though, starting to feel like the holidays are within reach! We are both doing well, I am feeling great. I just thought I would give a reassuring update for anyone who read that last most and might have been afraid I was losing my mind. It is back, and things are great!! We are looking forward to our vacation and can't wait to see everyone in Washington!

Heaven help me...

This is my cry for help... and to take a break from this blasted research paper. There is one week left in the semester... and there is ZERO motivation left in my brain. One more week... sounds so simple... but it is one more week that involves one more research paper, and 5 more final exams. I took two today... what a relief. Charles is sitting next to me doing his homework. I have finished 3 of 6 pages of research and now I have hit a wall. I hit this wall every night around... nine o'clock. And I think it is making me lose my mind. I think this blog is evidence of that. I hope I don't go crazy before I graduate in April. Why am I not normal? Anything for a degree right?
And... it is seriously WAY too cold for normal life to proceed. If I don't go crazy, I might just turn into some kind of snow woman.
Sorry for blabbing, but believe it or not, this helped me get a few more minutes of will power out of myself for this research.

I think I can...

Middle children

I am just studying for a final in my Marriage class and found a funny poem about "Middle Children." The chapter is about how birth order effects certain personality traits in marriage, and I thought this was pretty cute:

Middle children are used to giving in to the younger and the older.
Middle children are used to turning soft, mild cheeks to the child who's older.
Middle children make cheer their talent, smiling even through the hand-me-down downings.
Middle children will play a willing audience for the other's clownings.
Middle children are open-hearted.
Middle children will fetch and carry.
Middle children don't need unspoiling.
Middle children are nice to marry.

I never realized how fantastic I was at being a middle born... Charles is one lucky man!! :)

Baby Himmer

Isn't our baby so cute??? :) I went to the doctor for the first time yesterday and here is what all the fuss is about. If you look closely, you can see that he marked something. You can't really see much of what he marked... but thats the baby alright! Pretty exciting!! I just had to put that up for everyone to see!!

Slacker...

If y'all had any idea how ridiculously busy we have been lately... well, you might not think I'm such a slacker for not blogging in about a month. It has been crazy, but fun!! We went to Texas for Thanksgiving and LOVED the time we had there. We stayed plenty busy with everything with the family going on. I discovered that really the only time I get too sick with this pregnancy, is when we travel. Both flights were doozies! I have to say though... if I go my whole pregnancy without throwing up any time other then when I fly... I say I am pretty darn lucky!!
We had a blast with everyone! I didn't take many pictures though... I don't know what I was thinking! The only time I thought to take out my camera was at the mall with Annie and Chloe. I wish I would have gotten some of Logan too because he is getting so big and is so cute!
Well, for some reason, I can't get any pictures to load up. I'll have to get back on that.

HOLY COW-- as I am sitting in class here writing this, I cannot help but explain to you what is going on in this class right now. This is a class called Families in Communities- this week we are talking about the family and law, and specifically today... the topic is same sex marriage. Now... picture this- my MALE teacher introduces the topic by saying, "many students at BYU are against same-sex marriage, so today I thought I would bring in a special guest. I brought a lesbian to talk to you today. But not a real lesbian, I am the lesbian. But I'm not really a lesbian. I am just going to act the part today because I feel I know the mind and heart of people in these situations." So here I am sitting in my class, while my teacher pretends he's homosexual, and a class full of Mormons tries to explain to him (her) why we feel the way we do. This is probably the most ridiculous day in college history!! Wow... thats all I can say. Reminds me of a certain sitcom... Prison Mike anyone???

By the way...

Alison brought to my attention that I missed a blog here... so for those of you who don't know yet- I'm pregnant!!!!!!! We are so excited! We thought about keeping it on the DL for the first few months, but lets face it- we are way to excited and can't keep our mouths shut. We both graduate in April and are moving to Washington then where- after a few months our beautiful baby would be born (don't mean to sound cocky- but lets face it- boy or girl.... its gonna be one GOOD LOOKIN baby!). We are thinking the due date will be early July- but I guess we will see once we get in to a doctor. So far I am feeling great other than a few minor mood swings- ok- RETCHED mood swings. I'm working on not being a crazy woman on a rampage though- Charles is being patient... he's great! So there is the main thing from our life lately- many of you probably knew, but for the few who didn't- there we go. We have gone public!

Thanks for a Great 22nd

Today has been a great day to end a great week! Charles started my birthday celebrations a little early this week by kidnapping me and taking me up to the Anniversary Inn in Salt Lake for the night on Wednesday. We stayed in the Phantom of the Opera room... classic! We had a lot of fun and it was great to get away for a night. Saturday he took me out to eat at Outback, were... the steak was delicious, but the real treat, I must admit- was the BlueBell Icecream for dessert. For those of you who have never experienced the greatness that is Blue Bell... bless your soul. Charles's comment while I got excited was "following in your mom's footsteps, eating Blue Bell while pregnant." I wouldn't have it any other way!! Look out Texas- We have a whole week there! I hope all the stores are stocked! After dinner we went to a Comedy Show at Wiseguys. It was a lot of fun. We tripled with Adam and Tessa, and Andria and Randy. We had a good time with all of them.
This morning I got woken up to "Happy Birthday" and breakfast in bed! Charles got up and made me crepes- yum!! Then he finally let me open my birthday presents. What a fun birthday! Thanks to Mom and Dad for the cute heart earrings! I love them and since they are the only earrings that I own now that won't irritate my ears- they will get lots of wear! Great choice! Thanks to Mom and Dad Himmer for the cute socks, awesome aprons, and baby name book! I'm sure we are going to need to go through that in the coming months. My wonderful husband topped it off with a "gift card" for a date night of shopping for me and baby- and 2 pressure cookers! I have been really wanting some because I hear they are great- now I just have to figure out how to use them.
Thanks to everyone who called, texted, emailed, or even blogged (Thanks Emily!!) to tell me happy birthday! It is always great to have friends and family who love you!! Thanks again to everyone who made this birthday so great!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!

mmm... Blue Bell homemade icecream, what a perfect way to sayyyy...
Have yourself a bluebell country day.... :)

Us at the comedy club

For those of you who know me well... you know a baby name will not
be an easy choice- this will DEFINITELY come in handy! and... sorry about the weird face

The birthday ensemble: earrings, apron, book, pressure cooker, apron, and socks!

Cute earrings from Mom and Dad... again- why do I make weird faces??

Our Last Game... :(

So this week we attended our last ever BYU football game as students. What a sad day, we decided the football games would be one of the things we were definitely going to miss about college. There is just something about having a sold out crowd all wearing blue cheering their guts out over some big boys takin' each other out. It has been a lot of fun to watch them, especially as they get better and better. Anyway- in honor of the event, I took a few pictures to post our memory.
