Guacamole Gal

Abigail likes to dip her quesadillas dipped in guacamole.
Actually... she likes to suck her guacamole off of a quesadilla.
That's my girl :)

Going Private??

Ok, I can't help but notice the sudden increase of people making their blogs private. Am I just ignorant? Is there a reason for the increase? What should I know? Have you had weird things happening on public blogs? Comment or email me with why YOU have gone private. I am curious if there is something I am oblivious to :) heatherhimmer at gmail dot com.

Zoo

Last week we went to the zoo for the first time with Abigail. She really liked it! She LOVED watching all the animals in the water. The harbor seals and the walrus were a big hit. This girl just loves everything about water.
She wouldn't take her eyes off of the seals swimming around

Pointing down into the shark tank

This was a BIG mama walrus. His name was ET, and he weighed over 3000 lbs.
And I thought I had a big butt...
She was really excited about all the activity going on in the water. We had to hold on tight so she wouldn't just dive right in!

Bookworm

Abigail loves looking at books. She'll bring me one after another and say "more" until I read it to her. She keeps herself pretty entertained just flipping through them by herself.

This is how I found her the other day. She had pulled books off the book shelf and formed a circle of books around herself. She was just "reading" one and then moving on to the next in her battalion of books.

I can't tell you how many times I have read "There's a Wocket in My Pocket" since she got it for her birthday. Charles and I find ourselves quoting it all the time. Anytime we see a bofa on the sofa or a geeling on the ceiling...

Subtle Hints

I'm not sure what to think about this...
But I think this little girl might be missing Mimi and Pops

And maybe a few aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Big Milestone...

Yesterday, we bought Abigail her first pair of Nikes.

And she is STYLIN.

We found them and put them on her and she could stand SO much better in these. She is quite fond of them. When ever I go to take them off, she takes off from me. They are the first pair of shoes she will keep on her feet, and since fall is well on its way, and she is going to be walking any day now- I thought she NEEDED them.
When did my baby grow up on me?
Thank you Nike for making shoes that fit on her tiny, chubby little feet.

One more...

This is from her first time in her new pool. Had to share :)

Videos

It's been a while since we have uploaded some videos so we have a few to share now :) These are all from yesterday.

This one we tried to capture her reaction to one of her favorite things to do. She LOVES starfall.com. It is a website that teaches phonics and reading. One of her favorites is the letter "d" and the dancing doll. Her is a glimpse at her reaction.

And here she is getting down to Mamma Mia

Heat Wave

Ok, we are having RECORD heat here this week. It is up in the high 90's. 97 today.

Some of you are probably thinking... Come on, you are a Texas girl, you should be used to it, right?

Wrong. I'm used to 100 weather spent in a pool, or an air conditioned house. When I moved here, where it "rarely gets above 80" and "nobody needs air conditioning" and bought a house without A/C... I wasn't counting on 97 degrees.

Nevertheless... we have taken over at my inlaws (who have A/C) while they are out camping in this weather.... suckers :)

Yesterday we busted out the Slip 'n' Slide and Abi's pool. She thoroughly enjoyed both.

There's a Story there...

Here are a few more pictures and a play by play of our day yesterday

We started off the day with some delicious WHOLE MILK and tons of watermelon. She LOVES watermelon. She has eaten about half of one all by herself in the last 3 days. She can pack it in.
I think someone told her that one year olds don't take naps... because she was a stubborn girl all day! Good thing I wasn't making a big dinner and two cakes or anything....

Anyway, She had her favorite dinner... Spaghetti, with balloons in hand. Who could ask for more? Well, I guess she could, look at that sass on her face!
After dinner we opened presents. Sam (Abigail's 7 yr old uncle) brought her each gift, in order from the most boring, the the most exciting. All of my gifts came before the gifts from grandma, naturally.

The very first gift, and most boring. I made a little thing for us to put
all of her hair bows on, and made a few more clippies to fill it up. Despite
Sam's judgement, Abigail liked taking the clips off the ribbons.

And, the last gift, and most exciting- a lawn mower! We've been needing one of these!
The in-betweens were a big hit too. She loved her mini babydolls,
bracelets, and books- among other things.

Look at that face with her pretty bracelets

Now for the good stuff. We ended the day with cake.
I spent hours making a tiny teddy bear cake for Abigail to dig into. She loves teddy bears. Her initial reaction was so cute. She loved it. You saw the picture in yesterday's post. I felt instant gratification when she saw the cake and smiled. Then she went to touch it...

And realized it was not a real teddy bear.
She's a texture girl... and icing isn't her thing. Haha...
So much for that! She would eat it if we gave her bites,
but little miss priss didn't want anything to do with that bear.

Birthday Girl

Today our Abigail turned one year old! Here are a
few quick teasers from our celebration tonight.

I'll leave my sentimental stuff for her scrapbook... but I just have to say- I can't imagine what my life would be like without this sweet little girl. I feel like I won the child lottery. This girl has got so much personality bottled up in her tiny little body, and I just love watching it unfold as she grows into it. More pictures and explanations to come :) Happy Birthday Miss Abigail!

Boatin' Babe

I had to get these off of my phone... Abigail feel asleep when one afternoon when we went out on the boat. She was knocked out the whole time we were out. Poor thing looks so uncomfortable, but SO cute, I had to snap some pictures with my phone.

It just doesn't get more kissable than that.

Separation Anxiety...

The Doctor says that its at this age that we will start
experiencing what they call separation anxiety.

He has me worried, because tomorrow me and her

... are going here
without him...

for almost a whole week.

I think the doctor is right, because I am starting to have anxiety already...

Oh? You mean he was talking about her???

OH, I think she'll be fine.
